IRC Inbox replies and limits
Dashboard replies allow supported IRC Inbox conversations to be answered from the Eggy BNC dashboard where the feature is enabled.
Eggy BNC uses a safer external reply-worker approach rather than relying on custom production ZNC modules for replies. This protects service stability and avoids unnecessary ZNC restarts.
What happens when you reply
A dashboard reply is queued and processed by the reply worker. The worker sends the message through your BNC account and network context. If the target network or nick is unavailable, the reply may fail or be delayed.
Expected limits
IRC is not email. Replies depend on the live network connection, nickname state, flood limits, and remote network policy. A reply can fail if:
- your network is disconnected
- the remote user is not available
- the network blocks the message
- flood protection is triggered
- the target nick changed
- the reply worker cannot authenticate safely
Good practice
Keep replies short and normal. Do not use dashboard replies for spam, flooding, harassment, or abuse. IRC networks and Eggy BNC rules still apply.
If a reply does not send
Open a support ticket with the network, target nick, approximate time, and the visible error. Do not paste sensitive private message history unless support specifically asks for a small relevant excerpt.
