Volunteer Moderators help us keep Eggy.net welcoming, organised and enjoyable for everyone. We are not looking for people who can sit online all day, and there are no fixed shifts.
What matters most is reliability, good judgement and being someone the community can trust.
What does a Volunteer Moderator do?
Moderators may help with things such as:
- Reviewing reported posts and content
- Dealing with spam and obvious rule breaking
- Helping keep threads in the correct forums
- Helping members who are unsure where to post
- Keeping discussions civil when disagreements get heated
- Dealing with disruptive behaviour
- Escalating serious situations to an administrator
- Helping identify recurring problems within the community
- Giving feedback on areas of the forum that could be improved
Moderation is about helping the community, not controlling it.
You must be able to remain fair even when dealing with someone you personally disagree with.
Moderator permissions must never be used to win arguments, settle personal disputes or give friends preferential treatment.
How much time is expected?
There are no fixed shifts and you are not expected to be online every day.
As a realistic guideline, we would normally expect around 3 to 5 hours per week, spread naturally across the time you already spend on Eggy.net.
Some weeks you may be around more and some weeks less. That is completely fine.
You are NOT expected to:
- Be available 24/7
- Reply to every report immediately
- Stay online when you have other things to do
- Rearrange work, family or real life around the forum
If you are going to be away for an extended period, we simply ask that you let the team know.
This is a volunteer role
This is an unpaid community position and does not create an employment relationship with Eggy.net.
You should apply because you genuinely enjoy being part of the community and would like to help look after it.
Moderator perks
Although the role is voluntary, we want people who give their time to Eggy to receive something worthwhile in return.
Volunteer Moderators receive:
- Inclusive access to all Eggy products
- Product access that does not expire
- Access to current Eggy add-ons, games and styles
- Access to future Eggy products released while you are part of the moderation team
- Product updates without needing to maintain separate subscriptions for each included product
- Access to relevant private staff and moderation areas
- Early access to selected new projects and testing opportunities
- A direct route to raise community issues, product problems and suggestions with the Eggy team
Product access provided through the moderator programme is for your own permitted use.
It does not include permission to redistribute, resell, repack, leak or share Eggy products with anyone else.
What are we looking for?
We are mainly interested in people who:
- Already understand the general tone of the Eggy community
- Can communicate calmly with other members
- Can separate personal disagreements from moderation decisions
- Can be trusted with private information
- Can be trusted with moderation tools
- Are willing to ask another team member when they are unsure
- Can accept feedback if a moderation decision needs correcting
- Are reasonably active members of the community
- Can use common sense instead of treating every situation like a checklist
Previous moderation experience is welcome, but it is not required.
Good judgement, patience and reliability matter far more.
Confidentiality
Moderator access may include information that ordinary members cannot see.
This can include:
- Reported content
- Private staff discussions
- Moderation logs
- Member reports
- Internal notes
- Other restricted information
Anything you see through private moderation or staff areas must remain confidential.
Information obtained through moderator access must never be shared publicly or passed to other members.
What happens after I apply?
Applications are reviewed privately.
If we think you may be a good fit, we may contact you for an informal conversation before making a decision.
Successful applicants may initially be placed on a trial period.
The trial is not there to catch anyone out. It gives you time to learn the tools and gives both you and the existing team a chance to see whether the role suits you.
You will not be expected to know everything immediately.
If you are unsure about a moderation decision, asking another member of staff is always better than guessing.
Before you apply
Please make sure you understand the following:
- This is a voluntary and unpaid position
- Applying does not guarantee acceptance
- Moderator access must only be used for legitimate moderation
- Private information must remain confidential
- You must be prepared to treat members fairly
- You may occasionally need to moderate people you know or get along with
- You may also need to leave a situation for another moderator if you are personally involved
- Product access provided through the role remains subject to Eggy licensing and sharing rules
We may also keep an application on file if we like the applicant but do not currently need additional moderators.

Your application should include:
- Why you would like to become a Volunteer Moderator
- How long you have been part of the Eggy community
- How active you normally are on Eggy.net
- How much time you could realistically give each week
- Any previous moderation or community experience you have
- How you would handle disagreements between members
- How you would deal with a situation where you personally knew one of the people involved
- Why you think you would be a good fit for the role
You do not need to write an essay or make the application overly formal.
We would much rather read an honest application in your own words that gives us a good idea of how you communicate, how you approach people and why you want to help.
Moderator applications are private and are only reviewed by the relevant Eggy team members.
If we would like to take your application further, we will reply through your ticket and may invite you to have an informal conversation before any decision is made.
Please do not submit multiple applications or chase staff for an immediate answer. Applications may take time to review properly, and there may be periods where we are not actively looking for additional moderators.
