If you simply want to ask what everyone is watching, recommend a series, talk about an album or discuss a film you have just seen, this is the right place.
Use clear thread titles
Try to make the title tell people what the discussion is about.
Good examples:
- What are you watching at the moment?
- Thoughts on the latest season of Stranger Things
- Favourite horror films
- Albums you keep coming back to
- Any good documentaries worth watching?
- YouTube channels you would recommend
Avoid vague titles such as:
- Watch this
- LOL
- Anyone seen this?
- Music
- Question
Spoilers
Please be considerate when discussing major plot points.
If you are talking about an ending, death, twist, surprise appearance or anything else that could ruin a film or series for somebody who has not seen it yet, use spoiler tags where appropriate.
Major plot details can go here.
If the entire thread is going to contain spoilers, make that clear in the thread title as well.
Normal discussion does not need to be hidden, but do not casually drop major spoilers into unrelated threads.
Reviews and opinions
Entertainment is subjective.
You are welcome to love something that another member cannot stand, and they are welcome to say so.
Disagree with the opinion rather than attacking the person giving it.
There is nothing wrong with a strong opinion about a film, song, actor or TV series, but do not turn it into personal abuse because somebody likes something you do not.
Entertainment news and rumours
News, casting rumours, release rumours and industry discussion are welcome.
If something is only a rumour, leak or unconfirmed report, say so.
Do not deliberately present speculation, fan-made material or fake announcements as confirmed news.
Copyright and piracy
Discussion about films, music, television and other media is fine.
Do not use this forum to distribute or request:
- Pirated films or TV episodes
- Illegal streaming links
- Cracked subscription accounts
- Stolen music
- Unauthorised downloads
- Methods for bypassing paid access
If you want to recommend something, point people towards legitimate ways of watching or listening to it.
YouTube and online creators
You are welcome to share videos and discuss YouTubers, streamers, podcasters and other online creators when there is something worth discussing.
Do not turn the forum into a dumping ground for promotional links.
If every post you make is simply advertising your own channel, stream or content, it may be treated as spam.
Celebrity and public figure discussion
Discussion about actors, musicians, presenters, creators and other public figures is fine when it relates to their public work or genuine entertainment news.
Do not use the forum to spread private information, harassment, fabricated allegations or invasive speculation about somebody's personal life.
Adult and graphic material
Some films, television programmes and music contain mature themes.
That does not mean explicit material should be posted directly to the forum.
Do not post pornography, graphic sexual content, extreme gore or other material that is unsuitable for the wider Eggy community.
If you are discussing a particularly disturbing film or scene, use common sense with screenshots and descriptions.
Keep politics where it belongs
Entertainment discussions can sometimes touch on politics or current events.
That is fine when it is genuinely relevant to the film, programme, artist or news being discussed.
Do not deliberately drag unrelated entertainment threads into political arguments.
Recommendations are encouraged
One of the best uses of this forum is finding something new.
If you have found a film, series, album, documentary, podcast or creator that you think other members would enjoy, post it.
A little context helps.
Instead of simply saying:
Watch this.
Tell people why you liked it and what kind of person might enjoy it.
Keep it enjoyable
This forum is here for relaxed conversation about the stuff people watch and listen to.
Talk about the brilliant stuff, the terrible stuff, the endings that annoyed you, the songs you cannot stop playing and the series that somehow kept you awake until 3 AM watching one more episode.
Just remember the spoilers.
