Use this forum for help configuring desktop IRC applications such as:

  • mIRC.
  • HexChat.
  • AdiIRC.
  • KVIrc.
  • Other Windows, Linux or macOS IRC clients.

Suitable topics include:

  • Adding an Eggy BNC connection to your client.
  • SSL/TLS configuration.
  • Incorrect server-password formats.
  • Saved passwords that no longer work.
  • Automatic connection at startup.
  • Managing several IRC networks.
  • Client certificate warnings.
  • Reconnect loops.
  • Client-specific display or notification settings.

Before creating a thread

Please check:

  1. The server is bnc.eggy.net.
  2. The port is 5000.
  3. SSL/TLS is enabled.
  4. The password field uses username/Network:password.
  5. The username and network name match the dashboard exactly.
  6. The selected network exists on your account.
  7. Your client is not still using an old saved password.
  8. The network itself is connected in the dashboard.

Information to include

Include:

  • The name of your IRC client.
  • Your operating system.
  • The affected dashboard network name.
  • The exact error message.
  • Whether SSL/TLS is enabled.
  • Whether another client or Web Chat works.
  • The approximate time of the failure.

Never post your password or a completed connection command containing it.
