The Overview tab is intended to provide a general snapshot of player performance across several statistics, rather than ranking players solely by their best distance or score.
Currently, the ordering on Overview is based on the total distance accumulated across completed flights.
You've completed 38 flights compared to the 8 flights completed by the player in second place. Although they've achieved a better individual distance and average, you've covered considerably more distance overall, which explains your position.
The separate leaderboard categories allow you to compare specific achievements, such as best distance and score.
I can understand the confusion though, as the Overview tab doesn't make its ranking criteria particularly clear.
