Why /list may not show channels

/list asks the IRC network for a channel list. On large networks, this can be slow, throttled, filtered, or blocked.

This does not automatically mean ZNC or Eggy BNC is broken.

Common reasons

• the network delays channel list replies
• your client shows the results in a status window
• the network throttles /list
• the network blocks full lists for unregistered users
• the client hides raw numeric replies
• the channel list is very large

Try a filtered list

Some networks support filtered searches:

/list *chat*
/list *help*

Check basic connection first

If WHOIS, JOIN, NAMES, and normal channel messages work, your BNC connection is probably alive.

When to ask support

Open a ticket if /list causes disconnects, floods your client, or appears broken across every network. Include the network name and client.
