What is Web Chat BNC?
Web Chat BNC is browser-based access to your Eggy BNC account.
Instead of opening a separate IRC client and manually entering your BNC server, port, username and password, you can use the Web Chat option from your Eggy BNC dashboard.
Your BNC still does the important work in the background. Web Chat is simply another way to connect to it.
This means you can use Eggy BNC from:
A desktop browser
A laptop
A temporary device
A device where you do not want to install IRC software
A quick support/testing session
How it works
When you launch Web Chat from the dashboard, Eggy BNC prepares a secure web chat session for your account.
The browser opens the Eggy web chat interface, and the web chat connects through your BNC rather than acting like a completely separate normal IRC connection.
In simple terms:
You log into your Eggy BNC dashboard.
You open the Web Chat section.
Eggy prepares the connection details for your BNC account.
Web Chat opens in your browser.
Your BNC attaches through the web chat bridge.
You can use IRC from the browser.
This is why your BNC may show a local attach when Web Chat is used. The browser user is still external, but the web chat bridge connects to the BNC from the server side.
How this is different from a normal KiwiIRC connection
A normal KiwiIRC connection usually works like this:
You open KiwiIRC.
You manually enter a server.
You manually choose a nickname.
You connect directly to an IRC network.
That is fine for basic IRC use, but it is not the same as using your own BNC.
With Eggy BNC Web Chat, the goal is different.
You are not just opening a generic web IRC client. You are launching browser access into your own BNC session from the Eggy dashboard.

How to use Web Chat
Log into your Eggy BNC dashboard.
Open the Web Chat section.
Choose or confirm the BNC/network option shown.
Click the launch button.
Wait for the web chat interface to open.
Once connected, use IRC as normal.
If your network is already configured correctly, Web Chat should open and attach to your BNC session.
If your network settings are wrong, Web Chat may open but the IRC network itself may not connect properly. In that case, check your dashboard network settings.
What you still need
Web Chat makes access easier, but your BNC still needs correct IRC network details.
Make sure your network settings are correct:
IRC server address
Port
SSL setting if required
Nickname
Channels if you use auto-join
If the BNC network is misconfigured, Web Chat cannot magically fix that. It can only connect you into the BNC session that exists.
Troubleshooting
Web Chat does not open
Make sure you are logged into the dashboard.
Try refreshing the dashboard.
Check whether your browser blocked a popup or new tab.
Try launching Web Chat again.
If it still fails, open a support ticket and include your BNC username.
Web Chat opens but does not connect
Check your BNC network settings in the dashboard.
Make sure the IRC server and port are correct.
If the network requires SSL, make sure SSL is enabled.
If you recently changed settings, reconnect the network.
Web Chat opens but no channels appear
Your BNC may be connected but not joined to any channels.
Check whether your network has auto-join channels configured.
Try joining a channel manually from Web Chat.
If you expect a channel to auto-join and it does not, check your channel settings.
I changed my network settings and Web Chat still shows the old state
Reconnect the BNC network from the dashboard.
Close and reopen Web Chat.
Refresh the dashboard.
Some IRC network changes only apply after reconnecting.
I can connect from Web Chat but not from my normal IRC client
That usually means Web Chat is working, but your desktop IRC client is using the wrong settings.
Check:
BNC server address
BNC port
SSL enabled or disabled
Username format
Password
If unsure, compare your client settings with the connection details shown in the Eggy BNC dashboard.
I can connect from my normal IRC client but not Web Chat
Try launching Web Chat again from the dashboard.
Check whether your browser is blocking the session.
Try another browser.
If it still fails, open a support ticket and include the time you tried to launch it.
When to use a normal IRC client instead
Web Chat is convenient, but a normal IRC client may still be better if you want:
Advanced scripts
Custom themes
Local logs
Power-user keybinds
Terminal-based IRC
A permanent desktop setup
Eggy BNC supports both approaches. You can use Web Chat for quick browser access and still use your preferred IRC client when you want the full client experience.
